Lemurs

Last weekend we had a ship holiday on the Friday which meant I got to enjoy a long weekend. So a friend and I decided to get off ship. Neither of us had been to the Palmarium, which is a popular destination for many on the ship.

The Palmarium is about a 4 hour boat ride through the canals away from Toamasina (the city the ship is docked at) and is a beautiful hotel with bungalows on the edge of a lake. It is situated on the edge of a 50 acre lemur reserve where the lemurs run free and are protected.

It was such a fun weekend surrounded by lemurs and nature. It was quite warm and unfortunately not a lot of breeze near our bungalow, but it was a great time of rest and relaxation.

We were able to go on a couple of tours around different parts of the reserve to see lemurs and other wildlife. We even did a night tour to see the aye-ayes, a nocturnal breed of lemur. Here is just a glimpse of the weekend in pictures.
