This first week on the ship has been a crazy rollercoaster of emotions. From the excitement of getting here, to the exhaustion of jetlag and the complete overwhelm of a new country, culture, and living arrangement. I’m really thankful that I joined the ship via on-boarding in Texas as it has meant that I automatically have friends and people going through the same thing.
We continued our on-boarding this week with a program called Field Practice. This is basically a set of activities and sessions with different people around the ship to help us become familiar with the ship and the way life is different here.
My week has been filled with meals in the loud and busy cafeteria; enjoying the food that sometimes looks familiar, but doesn’t quite taste the same as at home. Spending a lot of time hanging out in midships drinking chai lattes and watching the Olympics (cheering on Australia with a bunch of other Aussies of course!). Getting lost around the ship at least once a day and ending the day crawling into my tiny top bunk. We enjoyed heading into town on Friday night for some ice-cream. Also, thanks to one of my roommates I was able to head into the markets and get a taste of the town.
I am really enjoying it here and am looking forward to starting work tomorrow (Monday 5th August). It will be good to get into a routine and get working. Please pray for all the crew on the ship. COVID is prevelant here and a few of our team have been in isolation this week. Also pray for some big decisions the executive team here on the ship need to make this week.
Enjoy some of the photos of the week.

Kimberly thanks for the updates and photos.
I must admit when I saw your bunk I couldn’t help but imagine how difficult I would find sharing and trying to get down quietly in the night to go to the toilet.
Praying for you and those on the ship.
