Starting Work

This week I started a new school year. Weird to say that in August, but that is how it works here on the ship. It was a week of PD for the teachers, getting to know how the Academy runs, different procedures and philosophies, as well as plenty of time for planning. It was a very busy week, but good to get into a routine.

On the weekend I got to head into town and do some shopping and go to a local restaurant for lunch. Madagascar was a French colony and still has a lot of French influences today. So for lunch, we got to try some escargot. It didn’t actually taste that bad, it was more mentally I couldn’t eat too much of it. For church on Sunday I headed to the Hope Centre, which is where the patients stay before and after their surgery when they don’t need to be in the hospital anymore. This service was done mostly in Malagasy, so I didn’t understand much. But it was a great time to spend with the patients.

School starts back on Tuesday. I’m excited to get into the swing of things with my classes.
